The bowling shops in Penang are spread across both sides of the channel. On the island, Bowler's Haven works from Penang Bowl and AF Proshop from Bukit Jambul. On the mainland, Champion's Playground sits at Megamall Pacific in Prai and DnD Proshop at Mydin Mall Bukit Mertajam. All four appear in the 2026 Storm VIP directory.

Island or mainland: which centre to use
Pick the shop at the centre you bowl at, because fitting tweaks are easier there. Island bowlers have Penang Bowl in George Town and the Bukit Jambul shop. However, the Bukit Jambul listing gives the area but not the bowling centre, so ask AF Proshop where to find them. On the mainland, the Prai and Bukit Mertajam shops serve Seberang Perai. For lanes, prices and hours, see our guide to bowling alleys in Penang.
A fifth name, MYpro Proshop at Sunshine Square in Bayan Baru, turns up on Facebook. We couldn't read its details, so treat it as unconfirmed.
What to expect from drilling
None of the Penang listings say whether they drill. Even so, Storm VIP outlets sell balls meant to be drilled, and most centre pro shops in Malaysia do the job in-house. Some bowling shops in Penang may drill while you wait. Others may ask you to leave the ball and collect it later.
For the fitting, bring your old ball if you have one, plus any wrist support you use. Also tell the driller your average and how often you bowl, since that guides the layout. Then bowl a few frames and go back for small fixes. Our guide to drilling layouts explains the options.
Shared operators and nearby shops
DnD Proshop Bukit Mertajam shares a phone number with Glassglow in Sungai Petani. So one operator may run both, which helps if you bowl in both places. DnD also lists an outlet at Ole-Ole Superbowl in Kulim. For those, see bowling shops in Kedah.
Perak has no confirmed pro shop, so the mainland outlets are worth knowing about for Perak bowlers too. In fact, Bukit Mertajam and Prai are the closest listed shops for much of northern Perak.
Buying tips for Penang bowlers
The listed shops sell Storm-group brands. For Brunswick, Hammer or Ebonite, order from X Proshop's web store, which delivers in 2 to 5 working days. Then ask a local driller what they charge for an outside ball before you order. Web-store prices in October 2026 ran from RM360 for a plastic spare ball to about RM1,120 for top reactive balls. For other states, see our full pro shop directory.
Finally, the bowling shops in Penang are small businesses, and hours change. Message before you make the trip across the bridge.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy a bowling ball in Penang?
The 2026 Storm VIP directory lists four Penang outlets: Bowler's Haven at Penang Bowl, AF Proshop in Bukit Jambul, Champion's Playground at Megamall Pacific in Prai, and DnD Proshop at Mydin Mall Bukit Mertajam. All four sell Storm, Roto Grip and 900 Global balls.
Which pro shop in Penang drills bowling balls?
The directory doesn't state which outlets drill. Most centre pro shops in Malaysia do, so it's likely at all four, but message the listed contact first. Ask who does the drilling and when they're in, because some drillers only work evenings or weekends.
How much does ball drilling cost in Penang?
We found no published Penang drilling rate. Across Malaysia, drilling is usually free when you buy the ball from the same shop. For a ball bought elsewhere, ask for a quote, and check whether finger inserts are extra; they sold for about RM14 to RM16 each online in 2026.
Can I get my bowling ball resurfaced in Penang?
Resurfacing is a standard pro shop service, but no Penang listing mentions it or gives a price. Ask when you call. Between visits, you can wipe the ball after each session and use a ball cleaner, which sold from about RM20 on Malaysian web stores in 2026.
